In the first quarter of 2011 (1Q11) compared to the fourth quarter of 2010, the prices rose by 2.15% and by 3.8% when compared to the same period last year (i.e. 1Q2010). The biggest changes in the price level could be seen in food prices (by 4.0%) and in transport (by 3.4%). The smallest changes concerned prices of clothes and shoes (by 3.8%) and products and services in the field of communications (by 0.5%). (Central Statistical Office)

The first of the company’s factories will produce polyurethane systems and the second will manufacture chemical products for the construction sector. Both facilities will be situated within the Śrem sub zone of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone.

The inauguration was attended by over 250 guests – representatives of economic and political milieus clients and partners as well as well known artists.

The investment projects are worth PLN40 mln (EUR10 mln) and will generate at least 50 jobs. Both BASF facilities are located on two adjacent plots. One of the facilities has already been producing mortar for the construction industry. The second facility has been designing, manufacturing and distributing polyurethane systems for the construction, automotive, furniture and other industries. The facilities will provide products mainly for the Polish market.

The Śrem sub zone was chosen mainly due to the fact that the zone has been close to Poznań and is only 25km from the new bypass and the A2 highway. The infrastructure elements and the investor-friendly atmosphere of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone helped BASF decide to invest in the zone. (WSEZ)
